Creditron Awarded Contract for Payments Processing Solution from Top 10 Utility in the United States

TORONTO, ON, April 11, 2009 – City of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility Selects ItemAge Express with Check 21 Capabilities

Creditron today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the City of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility, one of the top 10 utilities in the United States.  Creditron will provide the utility an image-based payments processing solution, including software, hardware and services.

A division of the City of Houston, the fourth most populous city in the nation, the City of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility serves approximately 2.8 million customers daily.  The utility consists of nearly 1,500 employees, and pipelines and facilities located throughout a four county service area.

Creditron will provide the City of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility with its flexible and highly reliable ItemAge Express remittance processing solution, which will include components for courtesy and legal amount recognition (CAR/LAR), and online image archive and retrieval.  The utility previously stored images on CD-ROMs, which are more costly and less efficient.  Creditron also will deliver Check 21 capabilities, enabling the utility to make electronic deposits, rather than having to bring checks to a bank branch each day.  This functionality will reduce costs, improve staff productivity and accelerate funds availability.

The solution will run on a Quantum 300 document sorter from Unisys Corporation.

"ItemAge Express will help us increase efficiencies and further support our goal of operational and customer service excellence," stated Jeffry Taylor of the City of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility.  "During the evaluation process, Creditron distinguished itself as an eager partner that understands how technology can help us achieve our business objectives.  They also were creative in finding solutions to our special needs.  Affordability also was a consideration."

"This agreement will provide the right infrastructure to meet our payments needs today and into the future," Taylor said.  "So far, we haven't been disappointed with Creditron."

“This agreement is an excellent example of how utilities can obtain substantial value by partnering with Creditron for their payments needs," said Doug Myers, vice president, sales and business development, Creditron.  "By streamlining the utility's payments operations, we will help them cut costs, become more flexible and scalable, and ultimately improve customer service.

With today's announcement, Creditron now counts over 80 utilities across North America among its customers.  In addition, the company has over 140 government users.
